Our story started in May 2012, with the acquisition of a small cleaning supplies business. The initial aim
of the business was to create employment for some previously unemployed friends and family- and to
this day it is still one of our core objectives.
Whilst only selling cleaning supplies initially, within the first year we added products such as
stationery and printing supplies to our scope of supplies. This was to accommodate our clients’
requests of having a one-stop shop- but equally importantly it aided us in offering more employment
opportunities to the previously unemployed. For the next 5 years, on requests from certain clients, we
slowly started supplying them with tools, hardware and recreational supplies as well as our core
supplies, which was then cleaning supplies, stationery and printing consumables. This once again
enabled us to create further employment.
Since 2018, after one of the directors became full time employed by FTA, we decided to refocus on
Hygiene and Safety supplies while still accommodating client requests to supply them with tools,
hardware, and recreational supplies. We have separate technical and recreational sourcing teams to
assist with these technical supplies but is also easily facilitated by one of the directors having an
engineering background.
In 2020, we gave birth to our medical division. We are proud to have assisted the City of Cape Town in
their fight against Covid19 by supplying all their medical N95 masks in the first 2 waves. Similarly, we
have assisted many other government and private organization with Covid19 essentials, whilst steadily
adding other medical supplies to our scope of supply. We have also obtained a SAPHRA License to
wholesale medical devices as of 2021.
Our current client base consists of 55% governmental organizations and 45% private sector.
We are a business that is 100% black-owned and is a Level 1 BEE contributor. As a proudly South African
company, we work to uplift our community by employing and empowering the previously
disadvantaged. We have collaborated with a work readiness program where we develop unemployed
youth and either employ them or refer them for permanent employment. . We currently have 1 intern
employed by us, whilst 5 of our permanent employees came directly from these work readiness
programmes.

The business was founded and is co-owned by brothers Jamal and Ebrahim
Ismail. Ebrahim has an engineering degree and is currently full-time in the
business from 2018. He was previously employed as a project manager at
Eskom. Jamal has a BComm Degree, and has a financial planning
background. Collectively they have more than 20 years’ experience
managing businesses.
