Fabrication and Heat
Treatment

INCOLOY alloy
945 exhibits good machinability under solution annealed or aged conditions.
Rigid tools with positive rake angles must be used in order to minimize work
hardening of the material. It can be an be readily welded by the
gas-tungsten-arc welding and pulsed gas-metal-arc welding processes. The alloy
is annealed 1010-1066°C (1850-1950°F) for 1/2 to 4 h and then water quenched.
Following this, the alloy is age-hardened at 704-732°C (1300-1350°F) for 6-8 h
and furnace cooled at 26-56°C (50-100°F).
