API Standard Non-magnetic Short Drill collar/ Non-magnetic Pony Collar


Our Short Non-magnetic Drill collar(SNMDC), also known as Non-magnetic Pony Collar, which is simply a shortened version of a steel drill collar and used between a mud motor and an MWD collar to counteract magnetic interference from below.

It is also used in locked BHAs, particularly where the borehole's inclination and direction give rise to high magnetic interference. BHAs for horizontal wells often use a SNMDC.

Non-magnetic Short Drill collar/ Non-magnetic Pony Collar are made from low-carbon stainless steel as API specification and implementation of SY/T5144 standard, which can be cold thread rolling, machine special double shoulder thread and do as other specifications request. Non Magnetic Drill Collar are as a housing for MWD tools and also could provide weight for drill string.

Our average drill collar length is 31' 6", pony collars can measure between just five and 15 feet.
